Abstract
Thunder Snake tells the story of Sam Coffey, an unemployed compulsive liar unhappy with life in the Shenandoah Valley. After a snakebite costs him his hand, forces him home, and calls his future into question, Sam sets out on the anniversary of his mother's suicide to bring together his father, Zeke, a grieving drunk, and his younger sister, Kid, in order to restore the family he helped drive apart.
