Abstract
The Stories We Tell The Stars is a collection of interconnected short stories united by character, place and theme. The stories radiate from Argos Island, a fictional Chesapeake island, and follow the characters of David, Roy, Josephine and Brianna. Thematically, the stories are concerned with the question of how to reconcile the existential conditions of separation, exile and meaninglessness. They also explore man' relationship with place, both in how place shapes us and in the longing to return to, or to escape from, home. Finally, the stories explore the ways myths and mythmaking create meaning and purpose in our lives.
