Abstract
This thesis is a spiritual memoir relating the events, characters and situations the author encountered during his five years in a Roman Catholic religious order, particularly the novitiate year. Relying on his memories and journals from the period, the author has attempted to tell the story as faithfully as possible. Intermingled with the story are reflections on faith, church and God, particularly the ways in which God was working throughout that period of the author's life. The last names of others involved in the story have been withheld in order to protect their identity as much as possible.
