Abstract
Mormon Girl is a collection of four nonfiction essays in loose chronological order which explores my experiences growing up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My essays examine the sexism and patriarchy of the Mormon church as well as the way beliefs and stories of ancestors are passed down and become part of the common truth, even if some beliefs are false or suspect In my essays, then, I weave in stories about the foundation of the Mormon church, the role of women, experiences of my ancestors as Mormon pioneers, and what I learned at church and from my mother.
