Description/Abstract

Media plays a vital role in how we view the world. Within the last decade the power of the media has grown as a political tool. This phenomenon does not overlook any particular field, as news of worthiness subjugates community outcry. When considering the following article, we will consider two humanitarian crisis case studies: the Rohingya and Uyghur Muslims. We will identify the role of media by analyzing news articles between 2021 and 2022 within the United Nations News. We hypothesize that the role of the media sways certain advocacy and accountability based on nation political power. Concluding that news subjugates guided thematic messages to serve the politics within larger institutions.
