Author/Artist Bio

Linda Pastan The San Francisco Review of Books has written that "In Linda Pastan's world a poem is not just anything; it is more than some inspired words strung together casually. She reminds us of the origin of the word poet: 'maker.' People who read books on the latest political, economic, sociological and psychological concerns should put Pastan on their lists. In her work there is a return to the role of poet as it served the human race for centuries: to fuel our thinking, show us our world in new ways, and to get us to feel more intensely."

Linda Pastan has received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as the Dylan Thomas Poetry Award and the di Castagnola Award. Her book, AM/PM New and Selected Poems was a nominee for the American Book Award in 1982.

Description

Pastan read with Jonathan Holden on Thursday, October 9, 1986 in rooms 148-150, Webb Center, Norfolk, Virginia at 2:00 p.m.
