Abstract
The behavior of laminated plates with coupled extension-bending was investigated using the finite element method. A stiffness matrix for a rectangular element with 20 degrees of freedom was developed using a symbolic mathematics interpreter program. A finite element analysis program was written for the analysis of flat plate. Results i for plate deformations and internal moment distributions are compared with existing exact solutions or experimental data and excellent agreement is obtained.
