Pass Through [Sculpture]

Description/Abstract/Artist Statement

Artist Statement

This sculpture is called “Pass Through”. It is inspired by the chase scenes in cartoons, like Scooby Doo, that seem to go all over a building but always end up colliding in the same room. It is symbolic for me in that I try to change direction in my life but almost always wind up in the same place. I chose wood as it is my favorite medium, I used the end grain because it resembles a hypnotic spiral, and it makes each entry way look enticing, as to draw the viewer into it.
