Description/Abstract/Artist Statement
As secretary of Old Dominion University's Video Game Design & Development Club, one of my goals is to help create opportunities for my peers to demonstrate their talents. This had led me to hosting the ODU Serious Games Games Jam competition in the Fall 2024 semester and the Spring 2025 semester. These competitions allowed students to create games within a short timeframe that were specifically designed to have a meaningful impact, such as by being educational or persuasive.
During my presentation, I seek to detail and explain the logistics that went into hosting such large scale events all by myself. I will share the importance that these events have had with helping Old Dominion University's game design program grow, and the opportunities that these events have created for the students.
