07 - Biomedical application of NanoPulse Stimulation

Description/Abstract/Artist Statement

NanoPulse Stimulation (NPS) is a novel technology that applies ultrashort (nanosecond) pulsed electric fields to cells and tissues. Over the last decade NPS has been investigated in cancer, neural and cardiac stimulation and immune responses. The Frank Reidy Center for Bioelectrics has a world-leading role in NPS technology and development with multiple academic achievements and industry partners. Our center organizes weekly seminars in the field of Bioelectrics and annual retreats. Our recent project aims to use NPS to stimulate non-excitable cells in the electro-exocytosis of extracellular vesicles and mediate immune activation. Our results are presented in a poster #43.
