Description

On February 24, 1849, Appollonie Cure, Mother St. Jean, and five other women became the first members of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM). In subsequent years, the RSHM has grown to be an international apostolic institute of women religious along with a global network of schools, including Marymount University founded in 1948 in Arlington, Virginia. The Spirit of the RSHM is a documentary film celebrating the spirit of the RSHM with oral histories and interviews of Sisters of the RSHM accompanied by archival and contemporary photographs and video clips. It is a joyful, inspirational film sharing the Sisters' spirituality and dedication to education. Believing in the interconnectedness of all creation, the Sisters commit themselves to interdependence in community with one another, as an Institute, with all God’s people and with the whole of creation, so that all may have life now and in the future.
