Abstract
This speculative novel attempts to explore some of the complexities of the modern day, emphasizing the relationship between books and technology and how humans now interact with these, people around them, and the world. The protagonist of this dystopia is a boy who can consume books with the fire in his hands. This ability paired with his lack of fulfilment in the world––due to the decline in interpersonal relationships which has been replaced with devices–– leads to the fundamental conflict between the old and the new and within the boy who is caught between them.
