Abstract
Diagnosis: Weirdo is a collection of memoir essays primarily centered around my experiences living with Asperger syndrome. Each essay focuses on a specific theme or narrative, such as how Asperger’s intersected with my religious evolution, or how it affected my coming out saga. In writing this collection, I have tried to faithfully depict a topic I’ve rarely seen covered from the point of view of someone with this disorder. My hope is that it will resonate with readers with or without my condition—that those who’ve struggled with it will feel seen, and those who have not will finish these pages having accrued greater empathy and understanding for people on the autistic spectrum.
