Abstract

This thesis manuscript is roughly the first half of a novel called “Convenient Store,” exploring a variety of themes such as found family, trauma and loss, and the monstrous as a queer analog. Its genre is best described as a “paranormal slice of life,” with everyday life juxtaposed against horror elements, which some comedy mixed in. Also included is a prefatory essay introducing this work in greater depth, as well as a reading list of books that contributed to my writing process in various ways, and an annotated bibliography of their influence.
