Abstract
The stories in Outdoor Life are those of the people who inhabit the hilly region between the Atlantic Coast and the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia. A place, within my own lifetime, that has changed immensely. Animals are, and always have been, at the heart of life in the piedmont. Like cave paintings, they persist, beyond our individual memory.
