Abstract
This thesis contains the poems of a full-length book manuscript as well as a foreword discussing the major themes and craft concerns of the poems. These poems address the idea of "betweens" and the balance achieved by combining two extremes. Using the framework of journey exemplified in fairy tales, the manuscript treats each poem's theme as an unresolved moment between beginning and end, knowledge and decision. The major themes of these poems are: identity, language, the body, the imagined world, the natural world, and bearing witness
