Many people still picture a librarian as someone quietly working behind a desk, checking out books and reminding people to be quiet. Library and Information Science students know that stereotype misses the reality of academic librarianship. On college and university campuses, librarians are educators, research partners, and guides through an increasingly complex information world. They help students move beyond simple internet searching and learn how to locate, evaluate, and use credible information ethically. Readers will learn about the different roles academic librarians can hold, what their day-to-day work may look like, how they teach information literacy, and why their work matters for students trying to become stronger researchers and more thoughtful users of information.
