Dave Smith directs the creative writing program at the University of Utah. His poetry has appeared in numerous periodicals and anthologies, and his books include "Bull Island," "Mean Rufus Throw Down," "The Fisherman's Whore," "Drunks," "Cumberland Station," and "In Dark, Sudden with Light" Illinois Press has recently , published his latest collection, ,"Goshawk, Antelope." He is a vice president of the Associated Writing Programs.
