Abstract
This study will attempt to accomplish the following research goals: 1. Explore some of the characteristics of low self-esteem or image and motivation among black school children; 2. Examine the academic performance trends between black and white school children by making a comparison between dropout rates, science scores, mathematics scores, and reading scores; 3. Analyze the overall effectiveness of public school desegregation.
