Poetry Prompt

Go to a place inside your home—or a place outside but near your home—where you don’t normally linger. Perhaps it’s near your circuit breaker box in the garage or the baseboard near a hall closet; or next to your heat pump outside or that grey-green utility box near the sidewalk. What do you see there? Is there an empty spider’s web? A single stem popping up through the concrete?

Why did the spider leave? What’s it like being a stem surrounded by concrete? Write some active, image-filled lines that delve into the evidence of life in this place. This could even be a fun persona experiment.
