Abstract
This paper offers a comparative analysis of the autobiographical narratives of contemporary African American female ministers and seeks to highlight how they both inscribe themselves in the tradition of spiritual testimonies by Black female preachers initiated in the 19th century and bring up womanist insights into the emotional conditioning of women within church communities and other church-related institutions.
