Abstract
[First paragraph]
In recent years the use of surveillance technologies in the workplace has become widespread. According to an annual survey by the American Management Association (AMA) on workplace monitoring and surveillance (2001), more and more U.S. companies are keeping tabs on employees by checking their e-mail, Internet, or telephone connections or by videotaping them at work.
