Citlalicue Candelabra

Description/Abstract/Artist Statement

These strange metal objects were given to me some time ago by my grandmother. She had no idea what they were used for or where she had picked them up. But the floral pattern and material, some sort of metal, seemed the kind of thing I would like and I would have a use for someday. Positing a purpose for these items became a fun topic of conversation for my grandmother, madre and I at family gatherings. Their repurposing as a candelabra reflects the way in which the objects came to me and the ways they were discussed by three generations of women in my family.
