In this paper I will discuss the benefits of music therapy along with its multitude of uses. Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical use of musical interventions to improve a client's quality of life. This paper will examine the different ways music effects the mind, body, and soul. It will also try to explain how music can heal even if for a short amount of time. I will also discuss the benefits of music therapy for the family of the patient and how they can be involved in the treatment process. This paper will look at ways to integrate music therapy practices into daily life for stress and anxiety relief. Lastly, the paper will ask the question of whether or not music therapy should be used as common practice along side physical and occupational therapy in hospitals and nursing homes.
