Abstract
Use this ARCGIS Story Map to take a Walking Tour of Green Infrastructure at ODU and learn about how ODU is using green infrastructure to manage flooding and improve water quality on campus.
City life means living in a constructed environment, and urban areas can often develop problems from replacing natural ecologies with our own. These unintended effects include the creation of an urban heat island (UHI), lower air quality, and stormwater flooding. Green infrastructure is a set of strategies used to manage these problems by restoring lost ecological functions. The best of these techniques are known as Best Management Practices (BMPs).
