Abstract
This story follows the lives of two main characters: Colin, an eleven-year-old boy with emotional problems and a troubled past, and the Nachtmar, a person from another world tasked with stealing memories from human children and converting them into a substance which is addictive for his people. This part of the story focuses on the beginning, where Colin is just beginning to figure out that something is missing in his life, and the Nachtmar hasn’t become a Nachtmar yet. Their lives are not yet intertwined, but the similarities between them are undeniable. As they gravitate toward one another, they both must confront the difficult realities facing them, and in the process, get closer to understanding themselves.
