Allen Wier is an assistant professor of English and creative writing at Hollins College. He was awarded a 1975 National Endowrnent for ,the Arts grant, a 1978 Bread Loaf Fellowship, and a 1979 Guggenheim Fellowship. In 19781.Louisiarla State University Press published "Blanco," his first novel, and "Things About to Disappear," a collection of short stories. Both books will be republished in paperback next year by Avon.
