Author/Artist Bio
Rick Skwiot's debut novel, Flesh, won the 1997 Hemingway First Novel Award. A second novel, Sleeping with Pancho Villa, followed in l999 and was named a finalist for the Willa Cather Prize. His childhood Christmas memoir, Winter at Long Lake, is slated for publication in fall 2003. Skwiot has published essays, feature articles, book reviews and short stories in magazines and newspapers. He has taught creative writing at the University of Missouri, Old Dominion University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he has been named Writer-in-Residence for the spring 2004 semester.
